SPLASH is the European Union Water Initiative Research Area Network (EUWI ERA-Net). It is a consortium of 16 ministries, funding agencies and national research and technological development authorities from 11 European countries.
The objective of SPLASH is to optimize the cooperation and coordination of research activities related to water and development carried out at national or regional level in the Member States and Associated States.
SPLASH aims to establish a framework for long term communication, collaboration and coordination of member state research programmes related to water issues in developing countries. To achieve this SPLASH will:
- Engage the main developing country partners and the research community
- Collate and share knowledge from European water research for developing countries
- Improve research and impact management practices
- Transform knowledge into practice through consultation, capacity building and informing policy
- Develop joint activities and programmes
